They have less than 1000 at loads of their games this season. I wonder how those rent payments are coming along.
And Brian Kerr is in tears.

They got rid of a lot of big earners at the end of last year. They have lads like Boccer and Dean Kelly in the first team squad this year and didn't throw the cash around last preseason so I'd say their wage bill might be well down. Their crowds are probably down as well though but possibly not to the same extent.
Okay maybe not a lot worse, but possibly worse. They have Killduff, Sheppard and Zayed on big money. Okay they released Zayed mid season. Then also O'Connor, Finn, McCabe, McGuinness Madden and McPhail who are on big money also. Don't try and tell me Conor Kenna and Madden didn't move there for big money this season too. Maybe they have reigned in spending on fringe players wages, but I'd still say they still have an expensive squad relative to their income from not winning any major trophies or getting europe in the last three years. Factor in this season, they have a B team to fund, would have had to pay Croly and his backroom team off this season. There was no Setanta Cup Final and the League Cup Final was in Oriel Park which they lost. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a similar size big loss again this year. I suppose the figures next year will tell us more.

Going to Real Valladolid B vs Leonesa today. It's the third tier. €10 in, great value for money and a decent standard. Play in the ground beside the stadium. When the first team play away then they're at home, so get a game in every week which is great.

That's very steep. You'd get a decent 3-course meal in Valladolid for that price with a bottle of wine thrown in. €5 to see Barça B for some league games. It was €9 for some seats against Villarreal a couple of seasons ago when they got promoted. Are you sure you're not paying guiri prices?

It's €10 for everyone. Eating out isn't quite as cheap as you say but still cheaper than Ireland & Germany. First team games are €25 in.

They won 2-0. Had someone sent off 89th min then scored 90th and 91st

It's a great piece, written by a passionate supporter.

If only the non believers realised what they are missing by not supporting our league.

Went to Real Valladolid vs Recreativo Huelva tonight. The atmosphere at the home games is very poor. Not sure if it's like this throughout Spain as I haven't been to games but the atmosphere at home games is very bad.

Combination of factors Robbie. Valladolid love to be the plucky underdog taking on the big boys, in the segunda they are one of the relatively big boys taking on teams they're expected to beat. You've got 8,000 odd people in a stadium that holds about 25,000. Doesn't help either that they don't have any proper rivals in the same division (or at all really - Numancia don't really count). Added to that you have the fact that Northern Castilians are generally pretty dour and reserved people at the best of times compared to say Andalucians, they tend to need a stimulus to get excited about anything other than Franco's birthday or anniversary.

Plenty of Francoists in other parts of Spain, including Andalucia. The national day in Catilla y León meanwhile marks one of the first progressive revolutions against feudalism in the 1500's. The purple strip on the flag of the second Republic is in honour of the Comuneros.

One thing I´ve noticed about Valladolid is the amount of Swastikas graffitied around the place. I was told the people aren´t as friendly here before I arrived, they seem very cold unless you really get to know them. (That´s just generalising, of course there are nice people aswell).

Spain has its fair share of cunts alright, and they're probably not evenly spread across the country. Personally, though, I've found the internal stereotyping of Spaniards to be fairly wide of the mark except on one front: Catalans are careful with money.

The goal should have been ruled offside. The guy that had the first shot was on, but the guy that put it in was about a yard offside when the initial pass was given.

I think it´s the guy beside him that puts it in
