any word on the money the FAI would receive ? is it purely gate receipts and revenue from the actual games only or do they get a few bob on top ?

I read somewhere that its pretty much a sure thing that Dublin will get it. We already have all the infrastructure in place whereas a few of the cities don't. Glasgow and Baku were examples of cities that don't.

Theres 13 out of 19 cities will get it

There's a few analysis bits around but they're hoping rather than saying we're definitely in. Most say Baku will be in too as they've money to throw at it

Scotland did silly stuff like only out down 3 hotels when they needed 5. Places like Russia and Israel seem out for political reasons.

We defo have a very strong chance

3 group games and a last 16 game. From the same group.

No idea about how they'd have seeds/non seeds play at home

Some great cities awarded games as well, all handy enough to get to bar St Petersburg and Baku.

Wembley given both semi finals and final.

    Munich,
    Glasgow,
    Brussels
    Bilbao,
    Rome,
    Amsterdam,
    Copenhagen,
    Budapest,
    Bucharest.
And Brian Kerr is in tears.

Would Ireland play their matches at home should they qualify? In som
e cases. A maximum of two host teams can be drawn into each group, with the host teams playing a minimum of two of their three group matches on home turf. Nevertheless, host teams won’t necessarily be playing their knockout matches at home. Furthermore, the draw will be formatted to ensure that should two host teams (the maximum that can be paired together) be drawn in the same group, the travel distance between the two countries in question will be a maximum of two hours.

Voting here. Only Cardiff & Stockholm fulfilled the minimum criteria and didn't get anything.

Dublin 2nd highest votes for the final package

Sidenote, ryanair made a deal recently with Russia that allows direct flights from Dublin to St Petersberg. Makes it an awesome city break spot.
There is no emoticon for what I am feeling.

So the FAI CAN do slick marketing campaigns.
They just couldn't be arsed when it comes to the highest level of professional football in Ireland.

I like the Garda tweet at the end. With all that OT on the way maybe they will fuck off and leave us alone for a summer.

Brian Lenihan called up to the senior squad for the games against Gibraltar and Germany.

He was torn a new one by our attack in Richmond earlier in the season and is now in a squad against the world champions, madness! Also there's no chance he'd have been called up if he was still playing over here despite not making an appearance for Hull yet
And maybe a chance for a second... AND IT IS! IT'S ALL OVER! PATS HAVE WON THE CUP!

Bermo a better player IMO. Good luck to the lad he won't feature in either game but a bit of exposure does no one any harm.

Anyone know where I can purchase these magic plane tickets that make you an international footballer after 1 flight?

I'm delighted for Lenian, hope he does well.

No mystery: by and large LoI players train part-time and play against fellow part-timers. Even after a couple of months in England we can't compare Hull's Brian Lenihan to Cork's Brian Lenihan. It's not like for like.

Theres no doubt training and playing in England improves players.

    But he hasn't played yet.

I've no issue with him being picked ahead of the LOI lads, but someone like Matt Doherty is playing regularly in England and has been part of the u21s for a while now. He didn't get picked because he had no one suggesting him to O'Neill like Lenihan did with the Hull lads

What a night...we stole a point but to be there at the death and see the goal and reaction of the fans was great: Incidentally the Germans are know for their efficiency however trying to get out of that stadium was a nightmare....Very poor organisation.

Ireland to go into pot 4 for the World Cup qualifying draw (in two weeks time) along with Turkey, Slovenia, Israel, Norway, Bulgaria, Faroe Islands, Montenegro and Estonia.

Wales will be top seeds, now ranked tenth in FIFA rankings.
