3-0 fats
Dat boy Keith Fahey....... class.
He'll skin you all night
Christy Fagan - He scores big goals
Thought we did well tonight. Radios were raving about coleman. Thought he did ok but didn't see a lot of the ball. Clark did well as did duff but walters was motm for me. Lead the line brilliantly and was very capable on the ground. Really impressed by him
yea walters works really hard aswell, seen him the last game he played(came on for afew mins) for ireland and the ground he was covering was epic, looks promising
What was the attendance then?
Just a little over 10 000 i think...
20,900 figure given out on rte.............smallest crowd for a game (football) so far......
Great for Fats to get the goal. The pitch didnt look to great I thought.
There was a shocking crowd there last night, looked fairly embarrassing on the telly, especially when the eejit ran onto the pitch and didn't get tackled by the stewards for a good two minutes. When are the FAI going to cop on to the fact that people aren't going to pay €45 for a friendly with Wales, tonights match is priced at €20, presumably because they want as many neutrals to go as possible. If they had only priced last nights games the same it would have probably sold out, and they would have made more money.
Great goals though!
great to see Fats get a goal, I have no idea why the FAI havent done a cup final price structure for tonights match if only 20,000 turned up for the home team how many will go along to scotland v the north.
dont think the FAI are getting the message that a vast majority of the country are broke, if they just look at the deals on offer from the GAA for the Dublin games in the league it might wake them up.
It was €35, which is cheap enough for an international. The price wasn't the problem at all IMO. I just think people don't want to watch friendlies against poor opposition.
By our standards its cheap alright but by European standards it is still up there for a friendly in a country where football is the third sport, the FAI arent doing there work right imo it was crazy stuff to host the tournament in its first year the likes of Wales or Scotland would have be better suited as they a have a few options stadium wise.
The Rep. of Ireland - Scotland game is being priced as €45, i assumed last night was the same. I was saying it to a mate last night i'd go easily for €20 just for the spectacle and to see the stadium as i haven't been there yet, but i probably wouldnt' bother heading for €35. I can imagine there's a load of other people in the same position.
I know it wasn't a high profile game Dodge but you can't say the crowd wouldn't have been a lot more if the tickets were €20, interest in the game hasn't waned that much in the last ten years, there's an awful lot to do with the recession here.
I'm not arguing that there wouldn't have been more there at 20. I'm saying there wouldn't have been THAT much more. Seriously I was talking to people at the weekend who didn't even realise the games were on. They weren't turned off by the prices as they didn't even know it was on. I mean I know people who had free tickets and didn't even go.
Its all purely speculatine though. If the tickets were €20 and an extra 10,000 people went, they fai would have made less money than they did last night. And there is no way I see an extra 10,000 there for that, even with the cheap tickets.
