    Nations Cup

Ireland squad:Shay Given, Keiren Westwood, John O’Shea, Ciaran Clark, Seamus Coleman, Richard Dunne, Sean St. Ledger, Stephen Kelly, Darren O’Dea; Marc Wilson, Darron Gibson, Glenn Whelan, Paul Green, Liam Lawrence, James McCarthy, Keith Treacy, Damien Duff; Robbie Keane, Jonathan Walters, Kevin Doyle, Shane Long, Leon Best

It's difficult to justify Fahey's omission given that Green and Treacy are in that squad.

My confidence in Trap is ebbing by the game, and I can't see him making the most of this fixture. But it would be great to see an XI that included at least three of Coleman, Clark, McCarthy, Long and Best.

From that group I'd go with:
    Given
    Coleman Dunne Clark O'Shea
    McCarthy Gibson Whelan Duff
    Long/Best Doyle

Or maybe Clark in the middle alongside Gibson and St Ledger at CB.

I'd Like If Trap Gave The Young Fellas A Chance:

    Westwood
    O'Shea Wilson St.Ledger Clark
    Coleman Treacy McCarthy Duff
    Long Doyle

There's no question Coleman's best position is right-wing, but we have an abundance of wide men and playing him at full back would completely change the dynamic of the team. Having one attacking full back with a wide man in front of him who tends to drift inside is one of the easiest ways of creating space in football.

Juve did it to devastating effect a few years ago when they stuck Nedved out wide left. He'd drift inside taking the opposition right full with him, leaving louds of space for Zambrotta to run into. Arsenal did it brilliantly with Cole and Pires, and Madrid did it to an extent with Salgado and Beckham.

The players don't need to be of that calibre but it works, at least more so than playing two CBs at FB.

Unfortunately I don't think Trap wants the full back bombing on, he likes them to sit back so there is no chance of been hit on the counter attack, We have so many young talented football players but with an out dated manager like Trap the team will never develop
And Brian Kerr is in tears.

No idea, haven't heard the reasons yet. Keane was subbed today though so he might be injured

Seems Wigan have withdrawn McCarthy as he is just back from injury and it's only a friendly. Is this not the exact same reason he pulled out of the squad before and Trap got the hump over it?

Kevin kilbane didn't even get a call to say he's getting left out. His club manager had to tell him. Bad form after everything he's given us
