    working for xmas?

    i'm off for xmas for the 1st time in 14 years!!! its the way the roster works, finish xmas eve (morning) not back till tuesday can't belive it don't know what i'm going to do, but i'm sure i'll think of something . whats everyone else up too?

    Off, and off since Oct 15th, with pay till Feb 6th. Retiring is great

    First year in 23yrs dont have to worry ablout Xmas duty

    Off 2moro for just over 2 weeks. Extra 2 days thanks to my lovely union who got us extra days off in return for letting the company erect a turnstyle outside our agreement...yeeeeehaaaaw

    not sure what the story is with monday and tuesday, arent they bank holidays hopefully ill be off then.

    Im off wednesday thursday and friday and the weekend.

    They are indeed in lieu of Christmas Day and Stephen's Day which obviously fall on the weekend this year. Same story with Monday week (January 3rd), that's the holiday for New Year's Day.

    Employers discretion if they pay you, IBEC brought that in about 5 years ago that if xmas and stephens day on a weekend they dont have to pay you for the bank holidays.

    Have never heard of any company actually doing this but they can.

    Well they wouldn't be able to pay you a standard rate if it was an IBEC directive to their members. If IBEC clicked their fingers and the Government legislated to do what they wanted as per usual, then they wouldn't have to pay you.

    Jaysus, never heard that. Better keep an eye on the payslip.
    Off the usual. 23rd to 4th. There is work there over chrimbo, but I won't be doing it.

    Finished college on Friday, working all this week and xmas eve til 5, back the day after Stephens day and back to college on the 6th of Jan, Upto my sisters in Belfast on Christmas day, can I just say that I fucking love Christmas
    And Brian Kerr is in tears.
