    LOI merry go round

Apologies if there is another Thread about this somewhere but would be handy to keep up to date on rumours or signings around the league,

Simon Madden Signs for 2 years with Rovers, great signing for them.

"And while the Dubliner’s second contract at the Brandywell ended last weekend" you'd think they would learn from their relegation
And maybe a chance for a second... AND IT IS! IT'S ALL OVER! PATS HAVE WON THE CUP!

Bang average loi full back. Not a patch on O'Brien and half a dozen of his standard available throughout the league.

Good signing for Rovers he is easily the best right back, after GOB of course, the league has to offer. Hopefully he gets the Rovers curse though and ends up going backwards.

He said it on his facebook and Kenny brought it up when talking to the Dundalk press. It was before we played them too.

Surely Fenlon will first try and stay in Scotland as manager of a full time club. I don't follow Hibernian too well but he didn't seem to be doing too bad a job there. I know he lost heavily in Europe, but he did get them to two cup Finals on a very limited budget. You can't really criticise him for losing 3-0 to Celtic. They're miles ahead of everyone else and while he did lose heavily to Hearts in the first one, in fairness he'd come in mid season. I'm sure someone else in Scotland will try and take a put on him first.

Madden's qquality. TC hasn't set the world alight but I'm sure he knows a good RB when he sees one. Good news for us too - means Rovers won't be sniffing around GOB. Aren't him and Madden related?

In fairness Madden is up there with Ger and Keane as the best right backs in the league. I wouldn't swap Ger for anyone other RB in the league but it's a decent signing for them.
And Brian Kerr is in tears.

Keane isnt a very good defender.

All well good and good going forward but he gets caught out a lot.

So let me get this straight.

TC has gone for SM as his RB but not GOB, TG? OMG.

Fenlon to mid table Rovers crossed my mind also. They must be seething not to have at least qualified for Europe . If a better option comes along, Crolly could be gone.

You dont want Fenlon for euro games- other than the Deportivo season with Shels (where even then they won 1 game in 8 if I recall) - his european record is not just poor...it horrific.

I could See Fenlon taking the job and Croly being his # 2.

1 in 8 but only 3 defeats, including draws v Spanish and French opponents. That's not bad to be fair

He's managed in 15 European ties with Irish clubs, winning 5 of them (Iceland, Croatia, Northern Ireland, Lithuania, Wales). Some bad losses (Malta, Latvia, Wales) but rest as expected.

Not as bad a record as some make out IMO

Is give him 4/10 for that record. The losses in Europe were horrific at a time when he had fully pro teams.

Oh- don't forget his euro record with hibs

Unless there's wholesale changes in the rovers hierarchy they won't be touching fenlon. Croly is there to stay
