You can bet your bottom dollar had a Real Madrid or Bayern Munich done what Legia did they wouldn't have been thrown out.

They may yet win it back on appeal.

Agree with you Gaz, also feel that because it's such a high profile club in Celtic, that that influenced the decision. I think it's crazily harsh on Legia and I hope they get reinstated on appeal.

Reckon had we played Celtic, the two games would have been drawn and Celtic would've won on technicalities.

Can't see it. The draw is already made and Celtic were seeded in it whereas AFAIK Legia wouldn't have been, so they couldn't simply replace Celtic and play Maribor if they won an appeal in the next few days. Everyone's making travel arrangements and signing TV contracts as we speak, events have overtaken them here. The best they'd get is financial compensation but as they are technically (if not morally) in the wrong I don't see them overturning this decision. Crazily harsh for me but there you go.

By the way I heard one of Legia's officials was just about to double check the rules around registering Bereszynski when he got interrupted by some Pats fans complaining about a stolen flag...

The player clearly served a 3 match ban 'unofficially' and featured for 2 mins in the 4th game which had absolutely no effect on the result... It should have been 'maximum' a fine for registration issues in the squad against ourselves, Typical Uefa carry on really, common sense and footballing morals out the window and I'd imagine Legia's history with them played a factor in the outcome!

Legia would have been seeded as they would have taken Celtic's seeding. That's what happened Karagandy last year.

Nope, UEFA already done the groupings before their Celtic/Legia decision. Legia were unseeded. After the decision Celtic were seeded and the Bulgarian team Ludogorets Razgrad moved down one place to the unseeded pot

If legia get reinstated then it works out perfect for them? Getting seeded in the draw like? Haha

I see Gary Pigg scored 2 for the ports today and Stephen O Flynn got a couple for Institute (think it was them). Piggs first was a cracker...

Another article about Legia W.'s situation.

"Henning Berg promises to challenge UEFA's decision as Legia Warsaw boss fumes over Celtic's Champions League reinstatement"

Including a quote about The Champions
    "SAY WHAT?
Legia Warsaw midfielder Ondrej Duda gave a scathing assessment of Celtic's performance after the first leg, he said: 'St Patrick's playerd a lot tougher against us than Celtic. They gave us a very tough game in Warsaw. (...)"

So what do we reckon about 'pitchgate' at Dalyer? Over fussy ref or Bohs pulling a fast one to get a game where they were missing 5 first teamers called off? I'd be leaning towards the latter. Granted the penalty area wasn't great when we played there a few weeks back but they had 3 weeks without a match to fix that up. Some of the pictures doing the rounds show whole strips of the pitch loose, no excuse for that.

I doubt there is anything more too it than a shambles of a club that has always done everything they set their mind too, half arsed. And just happened to get pulled up over it this time.

Those players out, will still be out, well the suspended ones anyway for their FAI Cup game down in Cork. I'd imagine that would be more important to them

That might be true if they weren't furious about it being called off (from the top down - I don't think it's for show)

Looked bad enough for it to be called off for me.

Think it was the right decision from the ref anyway. But maybe could have been checked that morning (as everyone was aware of the area around the penalty spot) and not so close to kick off

Not a chance bohs wanted the game off, they would still have to pay stewards and gardai I presume? Floodlights etc money they can't really afford to be throwing away

Refs etc all work full time. They go into grounds an hour before the game.

It wasn't like their was thunderstorms to make them think it'd be unplaybale

The fact it was two Dublin sides mean they probably din't think they'd have to do any pitch inspection at all

Didn't take Ronny Deila to go from "Celtic are too good for CL qualifiers" to "Europa League is our level"

What's better than seeing the look of disappointment on the faces of Celtic supporters, after crashing out of the Champions League?

    Seeing it twice.
