Just read et.ie. $h€l$ are in a "perilous position" after their loss tonight. Surely they're relegated at this stage?

Just had a look at the league table. All but relegated. There's as much chance of them surviving as them producing a set of accounts from the Ollie Byrne days.

Shels last game is home to UCD. They can win that.

Bray play Bohs away and Dundalk at home. They can lose both of them

If that happens, Shels in play off

I suspect Bohs and Bray may play out a boring draw this Friday though

Wouldnt bet on that with Heary around- he has a love for Shels....wanker

Somehting befitting about Shels getting relegated the same season we win our first league since Marneygate/Mbabzigate.

still- would have preferred them to stay up, simply for the bigger attendance V Shels than v Bray/Mervue/Longford

Shels away crowds are awful anyway.

Mervue cant come up and Longford means Flanciro!

As an old timer, it is gratifying that $h€l$ are relegated in the same year that we are champions. Slightly sorry for Johnny Mac as he has been a great servant to our club, but using the tax payer to fund their league wins over the years and the Marney affair makes today a very sweet one.

It's called Karma, and it can be quite a bitch.

Only reason I'd like them to have survived is to hand them another couple of hidings next year. "Let's all laugh at Shelbourne..." etc.

I heard he brought Greg Bolger over for a masterclass last week so he could learn how to shank them like that.

Well, a bad day for him and his team, but this 23-year old lad is one of the best young goalies in Germany. Has even been voted Best Goalie of the summer season in the Bundesliga not long ago.

When they managed to play Bayern Muenchen 1:1 a few weeks ago he was praised by Pep Guardiola for his extraordinary goalkeeping.

Has been with Freiburg for the last 13 years improving all the time (his market value is up to 7.000 k€ already). Even at his young age he's always been a great backup for his teammates in more than one sense.

So if you want to compare the two I would say Baumann has been of comparable importance for his clubs phenomenal rise in the last seasons as Clarkey has been for the Pats growing up to be true Champions over the last two seasons.

After reading that balanced and logical analysis I think I can safely say 99% of Pats fans have no German blood in them.

Drogheda just been robbed of extra time in the cup final by a dreadful refereeing decision.

EDIT: Drogheda equalised. Still a terrible decision by the ref and just typical of the standard in the league

EDIT 2: 3-2 Sligo now so still a farce really

Another Irish game decided by the referee. Aside from Sligo's second goal being a complete farce, Ref added 20 seconds on for 2 goals being scored in added time. If I was a Drogs supporter I'd feel completely ripped off by that

Plus there was nowt wrong with Brennan's header. Ref was actually a having a good game up to that point too. That decision by the lino was amazing. Shame it's all been ruined.

Does the ref have to whistle for free kicks? Advantage team that was fouled I thought?

He told them to wait for the whistle. If you look at the replay, he's lifting up the whistle as Ndo is striking the ball. He puts it back down as the ball's in flight.

Referee must blow whistle once the the team taking the free kick asks for the distance and once this occurs (ref steps out the required distance) he is then required to blow his whistle. Shame because he was having a great game up to this point.
