Never a red for Meenan lads. Cunt or not he sllid in on a wet pitch but it wasn't dangerous or anything close to being dangerous.

Shields unlucky too. Fabio bought the pen by waiting for him to clatter into him.

Doesn't matter now and I'm happy to see them leave this season empty handed. Shields and Meenan miss the Bohs league game now

Seriously ? his foot was raised to just below knee level when it was going past O'Connor. If O'connors foot had been planted and Meenan had connected fully, given the speed he was coming across, it was a broken leg for sure. not sure how that isnt perceived as dangerous

agree on the second, i think the covering defender would have got to Fabio easily. BUT........ even though he got the ball, i think he may have tapped Fabios back foot first, so i think you could argue that it was a peno (may be remembering it wrong). never a red though

Jesus Christ, Dodge - it was a shocking challenge. Red card all day long. What is a dangerous challenge then?

That reminds of Zidane's loaf on Materazzi in the 2006 WC Final. I watched it in an Irish bar in Barcelona with an Australian who had only started watching football that tournament. He was outraged when Zidane was sent off. 'He barely touched him, mate.'

I'm not going back and forth on this. If I'm more lenient that you for sliding tackles on wet pitches, then fair enough.

Fine. Don't especially want to labour the point myself, but the rules of the game don't change if the grass is wet.

Sure but "dangerous" isn't written down and is open to interpretation

Meenans tackle endangered the safety of his opponent and is therefore serious foul play which is sanctioned by a red card. It was red all day long.

Does the tackle for the Shields Red come under the "tackle from behind" rule and is that still a rule?

Whats funny for me is the Dundalk fans crying about it saying the ref should have taken into account the occassion, how early the foul was, etc, these are the same fans that were going mad for 2 of our players to be sent off only a few minutes into the biggest league game of the season

I think Shields may get an extra game ban for his reaction to the red, quite noticeably calls Buttimer a prick after the red, actually he screams it. Butteimer looks back at him and begins to write his name in the book.

    Just my tuppence

Meenan was a red all day long- stupid tackle, high speed, studs showing and he can have no complaints. I agee its not in teh worst tackle ever section, but thats mainly because the other player wasnt clattered- meenan should never have gone for that ball.

Shields - hard, I hate Dundalk so was delighted. With benefit of a replay I do think it was probably a penalty, first time I saw it I said - definite peno so can understand Buttimers decision 100%.

    red card - probably not!

Nice if Bohs to got a goal. It would give us more breathing space. Considering Dundalk are missing Towell and the two lads sent off last Saturday and Bohs form was hoping they might get a result.

Correction, a draw tomorrow and we are champions. We'll be 6 points clear of Dundalk and 7 clear of Dundalk with two games to play. Win though would be nice.
