Think someone posted about this a couple of weeks ago in another thread, was the minister that approved it from Sligo or something like that?

Yeh, Michael Ring - he's actually from Mayo, not that it makes any difference. It's a big boost to them, but in fairness they've put in an awful lot of legwork themselves before.

They thoroughly deserve it- great news.

FAI should get much more involved. The GAA have a central admin who assist clubs get these applications together (GAA get more than most other sports). They the. Have a loan scheme for clubs to make sure they have the reqd % to fund the work.

Heard an interview where the minister said nearly 50% of applications were refused because they were applied for incorrectly.

    Well done Sligo.

It just shows what can be done when a club go the right way in developing their facilities. Sligo have one of the best grounds in the league and facilities to match. I believe that they are also planning to redevelop the Jinks Stand - the stand where the away supporters are usually situated.

Sligo, Cork and the Rent Boys will easily have the best grounds in the league. Limerick probably wont be far behind when they move back to the Markets Field if all their plans work out.

Most of the rest of the clubs in the league (including us, unfortunately) should be embarrassed with their grounds and facilities.

Cork and the scum don't have to pay for their ground improvements though do they? If they owned the stadiums and had to pay for it themselves then it would be a different story.

That's his point. If they did have to pay like other clubs then nothing would get done
And Brian Kerr is in tears.
