    Bet Of All Bets.........Maybe?

    So, this weekend,

    Heerenveen @ 5/2 v Feyenoord @ 1/1

Strange situation in Dutch league it seems. Win or Lose, and Heerenveen are in Europe. Draw, and they are not.

So, they could go for the win, go 1-0 up, and take the chance of Feyenoord scoring to equalise (Feyenoord brilliant this season)

    Draw, no good.

Or just plain and simple LOSE and qualify for Europe.

Can't remember the exact logistics after a few beers, but Heracules lost cup final, and will be in Europe if Heerenveen draw, and it's assuming AZ win too i think (which they should)

I know where my money is going

How is that even possible? Surely something is mixed up here?

I'm lost. Slavia is saying the bet of all bets is Feyenoord to win?

HAHA......Will get the info today properly

But I actually saw elsewhere yesterday too that it's in Heerenveens best interests to lose the game.. 'Tis something to do with PSV having already won the cup, already a couple of Heerenveen players have said it's better for them to lose!

You can see the table here.

If Herenveen lose, they can be caught by AZ.

It really boils down to what round they enter. If PSV get the CL spot, 3rd and 4th go into play off round. If Feyernoord get CL spot, then PSV (as cup winners) and whoever finishes 4th will get that spot.

So to summarise, I can't see what Slavia is talking about
"We've seen you come, we'll see you go"

I think this is the key to it.

If Heerenveen lose to Feyenoord, then PSV can't get the 2nd CL spot (as Feyenoord are 1 point ahead of PSV). That in turn would prevent Heracles (Cup Runners up) taking one of the Europa League spots, guaranteeing Heerenveen at least the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Europa League.

If Heerenveen win they'd be guaranteed the Europa League play off round. They could technically still get the second CL spot but would need to beat Feyenoord by 5 goals AND hope PSV lost.

If Heerenveen drew, PSV won and AZ won, then PSV would get the second CL spot while Heracles, Feyenoord and AZ would take the Europa League spots. Heerenveen would then enter a 4-way playoff for the final Europa League spot.

So by my reckoning they'd be better off losing (or winning) than drawing.

Next week: How they get the fig into the fig rolls.

Ok, PSV will definitely beat Exselsior to give them 69 pts, so

If Heerenveen beat Feyenoord, they are definitely in Europa League.

If they draw, PSV go into CL, putting Heracles in Europa League as cup runners up

If they lose, then Feyenoord finish 2nd, and PSV 3rd, to go into Europa League, giving the extra Europa place to the league, and not cup runners up

5th Spot in Holland also qualifies for Europa League (3rd qualifying round)

**Am still a tad drunk so hopefully that's more understandable now

    Cheers Gaz

Therefore, I can't see Heerenveen taking the chance of trying to win, for fear of Feyenoord maybe getting late goal to draw. Feyenoord will definitely be going all out for the win. Plus, as I said above, some Heerenveen players have even said they will be better off losing

You can get Feyenoord at around 10/11

Is this the same concept as the 3 cups and a ball trick? My head hurts after reading all that.

Feyenoord 3-1 up after 70 minutes. Heerenveen scored 1st, Feyenoord equalised within minutes, then it was so obvious, Heerenveen just stopped playing, barely tackled in defence and passing ball straight to Feyenoord players

All over, 3-2 Feyenoord. Mad game to watch. Both teams celebrating at final whistle. Heerenveen players didn't celebrate their 2nd goal to make it 3-2, and did want the ball out of the back of the net to hurry the game up
