    Bin Charges

Sorry if this has been covered. This Corpo fiasco is driving people mad. Anyhoot, if you got that letter from greyhound you don't really need to follow it. Anyone can ring Thornton and get you bin lifted for the same lift charge but the year standing charge is only 50 blips.

Honestly can't see how the Corpo were not obliged to tell people the had a choice of service on this one.
I used to know it all, Now I'm going to school.

I think Panda and Oxegen both serve most of our catchment area too. Oxegen do a €14 perpick up deal which might be handy for anyone who only puts their bin out every 6-8 weeks (standing on to make sure you cram every penny's worth...)

Ring them all, check online etc

Greyhound now operate a pay by weight service in SDCC area, so just know that that is on the way in Dublin City too

I use city bin- 200 per year (no reg fee) = €4 per week (black one week, green/brown the next)

Brilliant service from them (never missed a collection at Xmas or during the 2010 snow)

Last year we were with panda. €282 for the year, 52 black bins lifts a year.
Fingal pulled out and panda got the contract. €110 per year plus €8 a lift, 3 weeks out of 4. Costs more now for less of a service.

    Cunts.

Neighbour refused to pay greyhound the standing charge and is now bring his black sacks to the SDCC dump every few months, 15 euro charge. Saving himself a good amount. Thinking of doing same next year.

We recycle everything as handed down by our hippie forefathers. I put out the black bin about 4 times a year so e100 standing charge is a pain in the arse to say the least.

    Flyer someone posted on boards.ie

€14 a pick up so you'd be charged €56 for the year...

They were giving you new bins but now I think you just get a sticker to put over the old one. I switched to Thorntons a few months back and was given 3 new bins. The Corpo were supposed to collect the old ones but never did despite ringing them umpteen times. Lumbered with them now, so in the unlikely event anyone wants some wheelie bins, I'd love to get shot of them

Yeah - got something similar - anyone know a good way to (legally) get rid of old wheely bins- I have 5 bins in my back garden and only use 2.
