9 born in Ireland, 4 came through the LOI
"We've seen you come, we'll see you go"
For such a big game, there doesn't seem to be a huge interest in this at all. Wonder is it lack of confidence that we can do anything, or are people just fed up watching the mind-numbing crap that Trap's teams serve up?
Can't wait for it, beers reading and waiting in the fridge

Huge test this, a win and we are two draws and a win from the play-off
Have a sneaky feeling we are going to nick this one. Watched Ibrahimovic couple of times for PSG and was pure muck (hope those words dont come back to haunt me)...a costlier version of Berbatov
Shambolic.....
Pretty much went to script. They have quality players and we don't. Simple as.
They don't really, they have Anders Svensson in midfield who Fahey and Dempsey took the piss out of when we played Elfsborg in 2008, he hasn't got any better since then. Seb Larsson is probably their most important player after Zlatan who is the only real talent they have but that's 1 better than us and their manager isn't 105 which helps.
And Brian Kerr is in tears.
It's a pity! Still think people are deluding themselves with what we have available to what they expect! However I believe it time for trap to go purely because I think we should qualify for the euros playing better ball because its been extended to more teams and its time to build again! Ill remember him for getting us to a tournament and a poor refereeing decision away from a shoot out for a World Cup!
With Bucka to lead us sure no one could beat us!
Svenson's pushing 40, Lustig looks out of his depth in the SPL, nevermind international football, and Kallstrom's a teammate of Aiden McGeady though he gets much less game time because he's basically their McFaul. Larsson's always a threat because of his set pieces, but apart from Ibra there isn't one player in their squad who couldn't be called a journeyman. There are players who don't get a look-in for us who'd walk into their team - Westwood, Kelly, Gibson, Brady, even Stokes. They're shit, the Austrians are shit, we're worse but it's mothing to do with the players at our disposal.
Bring back Brian Kerr, and get rid of Trap and Delaney.
Kerr? No thanks. He had his chance and didn't achieve very much. Remember Israel home and away? Remember the absolute shambles of his last match against Switzerland at home?
Delaney? He's in for the long run.
Martin O'Neill is the obvious choice. Massively over achieved at Leicester with a very moderate squad. Same with Celtic especially in Europe. Had a couple of difficult tenures at Sunderland and Villa but is the obvious choice. Mick McCarthy has his supporters too...
Or maybe it's for the reasons I stated.
1) he's Irish, which means three things: he'd give a fuck, he knows the players, he speaks English.
2) he's out of work, which means no compensation and we wouldn't be beholden to a corrupt tax exile.
3) he might want the job, which is something that probably can't be said for others linked with the job, Hughton for instance.
Why do you assume someone from Northern Ireland, who has played over 60 times for them, would "give a fuck" about the Republic team?
People want a change of style from Traps long ball, and they want Martin O'Neill.
Sweet jaysus, all he knows is long ball football
Keano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pete Mahon and John Gill?
Christy Fagan - He scores big goals
Fairly sure you've posted before about O'Neill so I suppose you don't like the way his teams play, which is fair enough - I'd rather watch a Mark Hughes team play than a Roberto Martinez one, and generally i like football to be played the so-called "right way" - but do you seriously think there's any similarity between O'Neill's style and Traps?
O'Neill's teams have all played extremely high-tempo football but that doesn't equate to long-ball, and neither is it negative.
I assumed you were on a wind up unless you think people from "Northern" Ireland are less likely to support the national team than people from Southern, Western or Eastern Ireland, regardless of whether or not they happened to be a professional footballer pre-GFA.
I don't think it's too presumptuous to say that he probably feels some attachment to the Republic side.
