I can't wait for this Donkey derby to be over. Although worryingly Norris did say that he would be fully behind whoever won, not Dana though i would assume!

Whoever wins will win because there was no better alternative. Don't know if I'll even be bothered to vote.

FFS, won't be voting for McGuinness. Roddy is the kiss of death IMO. Jaysus.

The Dana allegations if anyone is interested. They're being widely reported on Irish American sites:

Listen to latest updates on morning radio for this election, just can't take Dana seriously. Mrs Slavia thought it was a 10 year old girl being interviewed the other morning

So the worst thing you can say about Higgins is that he's small?

I was originally voting for Michael D when he was fav against Norris at 2nd fav, just to keep Norris out of the Aras, but since Norris has taken care of that himself, I am voting for Gay Mitchell. Not because I think he will be president, he wont get near enough votes, but as a thank you to falling on his sword. He is sacrificing his own bid by taking every possible oppurtunity to wind McGuinness up and blow his chances, and for that, I applaud him. Special mention to him on the radio debate the other day, where he suggested rejoining the commenwealth, and McGuinness'esss head exploded.

    At last!!

I knew if I looked hard enough I would find someone who actually admitted that they were going to vote for Mitchell. Ten days to go before polling day and someone has finally come out of the woodwork!

Mitchell comes across as a horrible nasty little man more concerned with bad-mouthing other candidates and passing snide comments than actually trying to convince voters that he has what it takes to be president. Anyone hear his implosion on Dunphy's radio show a couple of weeks ago? Pure comedy gold. A future president of Ireland?? What an awful man!

Somehow I think McGuinness is going to poll remarkably well despite the horrible smear campaign by INM. Whether it's enough to win is another matter. Odds on however that he polls better than Mitchell!

    Gallagher for me.

Good business brain which may help bring foreign investment in.

No real reason to vote for any of the others bar mcguiness to piss off the west brits

Gallagher has strong FF ties whether he admits it or not. The fact he wouldn't dis FF in the recent Primtime debate says it all. His backtracking the following morning was embarassing.

Higgins is looking like the best of a very bad lot.

    BTW, Roddy's still a cunt.

everybody knowx gallagher has ff ties.

Party politics means nothing in this campaign for me. He has shown more cop on and dignity any time I have seen him and as I said his business brain may attract investment to this country

I said he may. He will be our representative abroad. Addressing conferences, meeting, receiving heads of state. If anybody can spot business opportunities during these meetings it would be him

I'd rather a young vibrant businessman doing this than a politician looking for one last pay day

The sort of gigs a President does aren't for selling the country to potential investors, it's simply not the done thing - would be like whipping out lighters for sale at a funeral.

Tart it up whatever way you want, a vote for Gallagher is a vote for Fianna Fail - simple as.

Though if somebody that achieved popularity through doing well on a lowest common denominator TV show gets elected into the Aras on a wave of anti-establishment protest, that Mary Byrne will be fucking kicking herself.

Maybe for you but not for me or obviously the rest of the county given recent polls which have mitchell languishing and gallagher riding high

Recent polls are the polar opposite of the GE results so at least people can see it for what it is

Totally disagree. I think people are fed up of the whole political status quo and believe they're voting for somebody who offers an alternative to that. But Gallagher is a product of that very setup and its cronyism, having been on FF's National Executive and been appointed to the boards of state agencies by FF Ministers. He's a Fianna Fail candidate in all but name. People are allowing themselves to be conned here.

It's like people voting in Mick Wallace as an 'alternative' to all the greed of the developers, when in fact he was a developer who'd made a fortune from the boom years and was refusing to pay back his loans/gambling debts and expecting the taxpayer to pick up the bill. Now it turns out he wasn't paying his employer's PRSI contributions for years either but he had the neck to stand for the Dail and people were stupid enough to buy his bullshit and vote him in. Will be the same story if Gallagher gets elected.

if people are looking for an alternative MDH wouldn't be polling so high.

People are more intelligent than you give them credit for. They know the office is non political. SG has been challenged on his ff links on every debate I've seen and his answers have been front page headlines. to say people are being conned is nonsense.
