Didn't RTE sign some deal saying if an Irish team made it to the groups they'd show all the matches? Or was it only for Champions League ?

RTE have the rights for the Champions League, TV3 for the Europa.

Supersaints - Still the only Irish club to beat the Russians
Christy Fagan - He scores big goals

Don't TV3 should CL on one of the days and RTE on the Other?

It's pretty depressing that the highest level an Irish team has reached in the modern era could not sell out tallaght stadium.

    how much were the tickets?

    25 or 70 for 3, 400 tickets not sold 1500 no shows.

Cracking crowd tbh, if camera was on other side you wouldnt have noticed. Watching fulham and brum and they have it far worse.

Cracking crowd? Probably only 2k more than watched us play Hertha in the RDS at 5pm. Shocked they didn't sell out.

Loads of factors at paly in fairness to Rovers. 6pm kick off put off a few. As did the €25 fee.

What put off most nuetrals is the fact they're complete arseholes

Being on tele wouldn't help their crowd either. Delighted it was on tele though, lots of fun to watch.

I hate to see a LOI club lose in Europe, but in this case I'll make an exception

They were well outclassed. Maybe worth a goal, but that was it. It they had any decent support, Tallaght (that ground they rent) would have been sold out. But it wasn't.

lads dont be foolish the attendences was close to 7k we only got about 1/3 of that in tallaght v karpathy , if we had of gone the next step im not sure we could have brought in any more ,
Rovers did themselves no favours my talking about filling the aviva and all , it was a poor turnout but price time and opposition played its part

It was defo 7k... at least 500+ behind goal... main stand 3/4s full and well, look 2011-09-15_18.12.55.jpg:
im one for beating rovers with a stick, but its petty, and makes other arguements.from.us as a whole seem ridicilous when we engage in stupid guesses to try take away from.them..

That wasn't the case at all because you weren't allowed access to any other stand bar the one named on your ticket. There was fences put up with stewards standing at them.
I think, more than likely, what it was was a lot of people bought into the 3 game package for 70 Euro with the sole intention of just going to the Spurs game and where quite happy to go and see ' the mighty Spurs ' for 70 quid as opposed to 200 quid in London. There was a lot of tickets left un-sold tonight as well. Still wouldn't class it as a poor turnout. At least 7k there.

On the match, not too surprised. Rubin are a far far superior team and we are in unchartered waters playing way out of our depth. We didn't even play poorly just Rubin, due to there class, never had to get out of first gear and were comfortable. We don't help ourselves though conceding stupid early goals ( Juventus at home, Partizan at home, Rubin at home ).

Of all the point made re the turnout the 2 most likely imo are

    1. People bought the 3 game soley to attend the Spurs game
    2. Fans of other LOI club didn't go because of Rovers being arseholes

7k isn't a great turn out for the first group game even at 6pm. I'm not having a go at the Home team but so called soccer fans fromthis country in general.

When we played a far far superior Russian team we won.....you should sign Jeff Kenna to replace MON- he is obviously a better manager!

Loved the fact you lost, atmosphere seemed so deflated on TV and speaking to Rovers fans it was a huge anit climax to see so many empty seats and to be so thoroughly outclassed.

Here's hoping that one you get a hamemring next week you are counting down the weeks until your out of europe. Its a long 6 games when your being hockeyed every week.

Not saying I wouldnt like the same problem though!

Oh and remember we got about 5,000 for a preliminary game, at 6pm, in the RDS

Hmm, not sure about that. Rubin Kazan won the Russian premier league in 2009 and finished third last year. Krylya finished tenth that year. Funnily enough these two are local derby opponents
