was down in Waterford at the weekend (highly recommend it, especially for those with kids - http://www.winterval.ie/ ) and went out on the Saturday night. Starting drinking about 5pm and kept going till about 3am. Got up early enough the next morning (10am) and hit the road at 11.15. got pulled over and breathalised at 11.30 and passed the thing. how is that possible ?
Not saying its a good thing to drive that early after being on the beer and i wouldnt normally, but surely to god i should have been stung. I didnt eat a chippers or anything and didnt even eat Breakfast that morning.
I drank about 3 or 4 pints of water over the night, thats the only thing i can think of that might have helped me out

Sheer luck I guess, or uncalibrated equipment.

Could be smart and suggest you only had 3 or 4 pints all night. Have to say I've long suspected the advice given on how long it takes your body to get rid of alcohol doesn't tally with reality for most people. You have to remember those ads will cover the worst case, so if you're a bird weighing 7 stone with a stomach smaller than your fist drinking for the first time all year, maybe they're true. The water probably helped in fairness.

nah i'm a fast enough drinker (hero) so i probably have put away double figures on the pints(double hero), then had two or three shots(maaaaaad)
yeha i'm sure they do exaggerate all the info, which is the right way to do it.

Has anyone heard of anyone getting done the next morning, and i'm not talking about someone that drank till 7 in the morning and then woke and drove at 9. a half decent sleep and then early enough.
One of the my swimming coaches is a Garda, so i'm going to be asking him tonight anyway

I would have thought 8 hours was reasonable recovery time. I think most people that get caught in the morning drank til 3 and were on the road to work at 7.

Yeah, I heard of a fella a few years ago who was having a few jars in his local (which is a popular watering hole amongst Saints). The group he was with were having some banter with another group of lads from the same area. One of them happened to be an off-duty Garda, and a throwaway remark was made about him being a Free State something-or-other. Anyway, the next morning your man gets into his car and he only just gets to the end of his road when a Garda car that had clearly been waiting for him pulls him over.

Any news on 1st Division? Will it be 7 teams? Are Waterford pulling out of the league?

Think they're just using an U19s team for the time being.

Bit random, what does the phrase "For the time being" actually mean. I know what it means, but the words don't seem to make sense.

Anyone have the link to the video of that ultras show at the indoor kids match that was floating around here a few months back? The floor was blue and they were up above the pitch behind the goal on the left. Can't find the vid on YouTube.
