    Fri, Jul 22 2011
Airtricity League XI manager Damien Richardson has announced a reduced squad of 21 players for next week’s Dublin Super Cup tournament.

With the approval of the managers of Shamrock Rovers, Sligo Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic, who are involved in UEFA club action during the week, additional places in the squad will be filled prior to the tournament by players from those teams.

Richardson’s squad will assemble on Wednesday morning ahead of the prestigious tournament at the Aviva Stadium next weekend.

The Airtricity League XI will meet Manchester City on Saturday, July 30 (2.00pm) and Celtic on Sunday, July 31 (2.00pm) in the four-team tournament, which also includes Italian giants Inter Milan. All three teams will be bringing their full first-team squads, meaning fans will get to see the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Wesley Sneijder and David Silva in action.

“I am comfortable that I have assembled a strong squad that will be very competitive in each of our two fixtures and will be properly representative of the quality of player in the Airtricity League,” said Richardson. “We have two games against very high calibre opposition and I am certain that we will give a good account of ourselves.”

“With a number of clubs still in European club competition, it has obviously had a degree of impact on the availability of certain players. The tournament will be broadcast to over 160 territories around the world and will be great exposure for the Airtricity League players and Ireland and Dublin as a whole.”

    Goalkeepers:
    Ger Doherty (Derry City)
    Barry Murphy (Bohemians)

    Defenders:
    Owen Heary (Bohemians)
    Simon Madden (Dundalk)
    Daniel Lafferty (Derry City)
    Danny Murphy (Cork City)
    Stewart Greacen (Derry City)
    Shane McEleney (Derry City)
    Colin Hawkins (Dundalk)
    Aidan Price (Bohemians)
    Ger O'Brien (Bohemians)

    Midfielders:
    Gareth McGlynn (Derry City)
    Daniel Kearns (Dundalk)
    Stephen Mclaughlin (Derry City)
    Barry Molloy (Derry City)
    Dean Bennett (Dundalk)
    Joe Gamble (Limerick FC)
    Ruaidhri Higgins (Derry City)
    James McLean (Derry City)

It said in The Star today whether its true or not that Rico is going to ask clubs involved in Europe to consider releasing players for the 2nd game the League play.

He's really taking the piss if this is the case.

    Nope, all tickets...

    http://extratime.ie/newsdesk/article...ced-super-cup/

Ticket prices for the Dublin Super Cup have been reduced in the build up to the tournament taking place at the Aviva Stadium on the 30th and 31st July. The decision to lower ticket prices across the board has been taken in the final week to ensure affordability for football fans while still enjoying top-quality football from leading European clubs.

The remaining ticket categories for the Dublin Super Cup have now received a reduction in price across adults and children’s tickets as follows:

    Upper tier:
Now €30 for adults and €10 for children under-16

Lower tiers South and North stands:
Now €40 for adults and €20 for children under-16

Lower tiers East and West stands:
Now €45 for adults and €20 for children under-16

    Premium seats:
    Now €60

With the full first-team squads of Celtic, Inter Milan, Manchester City and an Airtricity League XI all lining up to compete, football fans will welcome the news of lower ticket prices.

Gregg Oldfield, Managing Director at Endemol Sport, commented, “We have made a long-term commitment to running the Dublin Super Cup over the next ten years. In its inaugural year, we want the tournament to be a real success by encouraging as many football fans as possible to come to the Aviva Stadium and watch great teams play competitive, attacking football and experience the match-day entertainment.

“Lowering ticket prices is what fans are asking for and we have responded by offering them a chance to watch the action first hand. We hope this gesture will encourage fans to get behind the tournament and enjoy what will be a great experience for both the players and the fans. Existing ticket holders from the former A, B, C and Premium Categories previously priced between €50 and €99 are being contacted now with some important information relating to their tickets to the event. We look forward to welcoming all fans at the weekend.”

Fans that have already purchased tickets who have a query should contact the channel they purchased from (in-store or on-line) or by email to info@dublinsupercup.com.
