    QPR ticket prices up 40%

QPR fans have reacted angrily after learning they will be charged up to £72 to watch their team in the Barclays Premier League next season.

Club owners Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal are cashing in on the club's promotion back to the top flight by hiking the prices of both matchday and season tickets.

The cheapest tickets will be £47 while season tickets are up by almost 40% from last term, although with four home games less in the Premier League compared to the npower Championship, the increase is even more in real terms.

The price rises were widely predicted but have still been met with dismay by many Rangers fans.

"It's an absolute disgrace and, yet again, underlines the total contempt the owners of QPR have for the fans," said Paul Finney of the Independent R's website.

"Flavio Briatore's dream is a 'boutique' club, which has an exclusive feel to it and is the place for wealthy people to be seen.

"Not only is that a slap in the face of QPR supporters, it is not in the long-term interests of a club that has two other Premier League clubs (Chelsea and Fulham) on its doorstep."

QPR's season ticket price changes will see the most expensive band - platinum - increasing from £699 to £999.

However, the club offer significant discounts for juniors, which start at just £49 for under eights, with senior citizens able to buy a season ticket for £319.

Standard bronze tickets at Loftus Road have been set at £549.

Current season ticket holders have until 30 June to renew.

What a total joke. It's madness.
I can see a lot of their fans walking away from this and refusing to pay it.

Hopefully they don pay it. Them prices are ludicrous no matter what club it is but from a club who just got promoted it's beyond crazy. Owners are cunts anyway by the looks it.

They tried this a few years ago and fans stayed away, especially away fans but with a capacity of 18k and the lure of pl football I reckon they'll fill it next season

Bernie Ecclestone only said in an interview that he wouldnt travel to watch them and that he often leaves loftus road at half time to beat the traffic.

Now there is an owner who is passionate about the club !

When they get relegated next year do you think their loyal following will return after being priced out!

Dearer to watch football in Elland Rd than Loftus Rd next season. I nearly have Ridsdale back to see the end of Bates. Spending millions of the clubs money on a fucking hotel and spending 500 grand a year on players.

He swore blind he didnt know who owned the club up to just before the playoffs. When he then bought the club off said owners cause he would have had to disclose who owned the club by premier league rules. Guy should be in prison. 25,000 a game tiny wage bill and turned a 'minor profit' this year by moving on players. Sold half the academy to chelsea too. Cunt of the highest order. It's rumoured the yanks are going mad to buy the club as they see the fans stay loyal and still pay top dollar to see the team play. He refused to pay 8 grand a week to some top japanese player last week but pays some solicitor 9 grand a week to keep his dealings private.

    Decent value by Blackburn.

Honestly not sure I could be as regular a match goer in England as I am here.

Old? Redeveloped less than 20 years ago. Quality stands on 3 sides.

Loftus Rd is quality too. Been there a few times, great setup.

Ewood is the second oldest prem ground, normally love old grounds with character ,but for me the place felt very sterile, anytime I was there .
Blackburn Rovers have a lot of other clubs with much more modern stadium to compete with in the surrounding area , so lowering the prices to compete and draw support is a necessity, especially since they've been struggling .
Modern Stadia arnt necessarily better ,Bolton, Wigan for example(never been but been told atoms is shite since they moved to new generic stadiums, but facilities like toilets food/beverage stands ,club shops ,now first class)and even Eastlands cant compare to the character and atmosphere created at Maine road .
It's just a personal thing I suppose just dont like the place( Ewood )four thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire and thats one of them.

Ewood is more modern than Anfield, villa park, Stoke, Blackpool, Everton Fulham QPR Wolves and Norwich. The stands are probably a year or two older than eastlands and most of old trafford. Where are you getting old ground from?

Didn't you say they were redeveloped 20 years ago yourself? How is that less than Eastlands?

(Oh and 20 years is old now...)

Ewood was redeveloped in the early 90s building on eastlands started in 99 opened in 02. In the context of old grounds vs new grounds in a league where some stands are 100 years old I would most certainly class them both as new.

Ah Uncle Ken .......happy days!!! Chelsea sold on those players since.(Taiwo and Rose I think). He once tried to create a LOI team in Newbridge. Reckoned there were about 30,000 fans in the Kildare area
