    FAO Techies! :(

I've been a retard and messed up my laptop somehow.

Basically I was trying to play Football Manager 2008 and it asked me to choose a programme to run it with and I mistakenly clicked on Adobe Reader. Now all of my desktop and other programmes are labelled with the Adobe symbol and I can't open them because they are all trying to open using Adobe.

I can get into the programmes if I go to restore previous versions but not through my desktop or start menu.

Anyone know what the hell I've done and how to fix it?

Start/Contro Panel/Default Programs and set default.

Im getting a security warning everytime I try and open a programme asking me to save file or open. Either leads to no progress!

If you right click on a file, select 'open with' then select the programme you want and tick that 'use every time' thingy

Keep your eye on boards.ie bargain alerts, Currys had a decent laptop for 479. Decent processor and 4gb ram. As Laptop graphics cards are shit make sure you get loads of ram so HD shows wont cripple your laptop.

Saintly, do you have a PS3 or an Xbox? You can stream from your PC via either of these into your TV. Just dowload TVersity or PS3 media player (they're free). Might save you a few bob.

No point starting a new techie thread.

Can any of you recommend a decent, (legally) free application for ripping CDs to MP3 format? I used to have Media Monkey but found the free version a pain in the arse – limited and crashed more often than Aeroflot. Anything else out there that people have actually used and can recommended?

Cheers kdjac, will give that a blast.

Thanks for the offer Connolly but handier to go with this one - won't make Friday's game anyway.
