    LOI Premier Division

    Odds from Paddy Power

    Homeless 5/6
    Sligo 3/1
    Dundalk 7/1
    Derry 12/1
    Bohs 12/1
    Pats 14/1
    Bray 40/1
    UCD 100/1
    Galway 150/1
    Drogs 500/1

Each way 1/3 odds for places 1, 2

Don't generally bet at odds on but it's hard not to view backing Rovers as an 8-month investment scheme paying 83% interest tax free. Sligo are the only threat I'd see and I think they're weaker than last year. However flukily they may have achieved it, you'd have to think winning the league last year will lessen the chances of them planking it again on the run in. It does look like buying money. Opinions? Gambling ones only please, spare us your moral outrage and "I'm such a great Pats fan I couldn't back them" bolloxology.

I reckon Dundalk will have a good season and challange ourselves and Sligo for 2nd spot. Made some very good signings and have been very good in pre season. Shams should win the league, I still think their manager is a big liability for them though so reckon it'll be closer than some expect. We'll finish ahead of Derry and Bohs for certain IMO

No value at all in that market imo bar probably rovers. They look nailed on alright. They only worry would be if they lost a few in the summer due to the wage bill or loony manager but its unlikely

Not much value there. i think Derry might be worth a couple of e/w quid as cliched as it sounds, most teams dread playing in the Brandywell.

Rovers are obvious favourites but I couldn't back a team at 5/6 that so heavily dependent on one man (Twigg). If he goes they'll struggle for goals (lost their top scorer midfielder Chambers too).

Blinkhorn is 33's and north is 20's. Maybe worth a few quid

Tend to agree on the value thing - on general principle I'd hardly ever back odds-on. I think Finn will easily compensate for Chambers on the goals front and Dennehy usually chips with half a dozen goals a season. For some reason I thought they were stronger up front - if Twigg is out long term and they have to rely on Sheppard, O'Neill and Kilduff for goals they could struggle alright. On the other hand, not having Price in that defence ought to help them concede less goals.

Well thats just it, they're still favourites (and clear avourites) but I couldn't invest for the season at that price with those lingering doubts

You could very easily have a good scutch on rovers and cover it with Sligo at 3's.

Gary O'Neill at 15/2 is poor odds IMO. He's never really been a goalscorer
Christy Fagan - He scores big goals

Twigg at 11/4 for top scorer does look a fair bet, especially given that Rovers are odds-on for the league - the chances on the latter happening probably being entirely dependant on the former also happening.

Short price to be taking on somebody with so much recent injury trouble though.

Amond would probably have walked it if he's stayed the season last year too.

Was going to have mug punt on North e/w

Or they're ptetrified of anythin they don't know so play safe

I remember thinking a few seasons ago we'd get 1 up on them with Haran starting when he hadn't featured in preseason but he was favourite to score first...
